CLAUDIA celebrates 40 years with an exclusive tour at Japan House

As part of the celebrations of CASA CLAUDIA's 40th anniversary, we gathered tonight (18) architects, designers and artists who are part of the magazine's history for an exclusive guided tour of Japan House - a new space for culture, gastronomy and technology installed at number 52 of Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo (SP).

Marcello Dantas, curator of the house, presented the proposal for the space to the guests, which aims to show contemporary Japan to Brazilians, and gave details about the first exhibition “Bamboo – Histórias de um Japão”. “Japan House is a place to be, to appreciate Japan's inexhaustibly fascinating culture and exchange cultural, economic and ideas,” said the curator. Marcello insisted on emphasizing that nothing is exaggerated there, there is no luxury. “Everything is done as discreetly as possible. Let's show the huge universe of Japan from the simplicity. We want Japanese thinking and way of life to instigate and inspire Brazilians to a new way of seeing the world”, he added.

During the visit, the Japanese minimalist style could be enjoyed by all. “The project is by Kengo Kuma, who drank from the inexhaustible source of Japanese artisans to create his architecture,” said Marcello. A space without walls, with lots of wood, entrance of natural light in all environments and gardens present in several corners composes the architecture and decoration of the place.

Among the guests tonight were the architects Roberto Negrete, Paloma Yamagata, Bruno Rangel, Bruno Simões, Yáskara Jaeger, Flávia Gerab, Eduardo Mera; designers Fernando Jaeger, Fernando Prado, Ana Neute, Joana Lira, Carol Gay, Paulo Goldstein, Tiago Curioni, Adriana Yazbek; artist Calu Fontes; the art curator Waldick Jatobá and the CASA CLAUDIA team.
